Egypt

Hello all. We're back from a great trip to Egypt Feb 28-March 8. We spent the first half in Sharm El Sheikh, a resort town on the Red Sea, followed by several days of sight seeing in Cairo. The weather was warm, the food delicious, the people funny and charming.

I'm still wading through photos, which I'll add to our web album, but here's a sample.

View from our hotel room in Sharm.

An evening in Na'ama Bay for dinner. Na'ama Bay is the tourist strip of restaurants and shops in Sharm.

After dinner at Abou El Sid. I had stuffed pigeon (the house specialty). It was terrific - I highly recommend.

An afternoon at the Sharm market, pondering the "goods" for sale and all the litter.

With our guide, Mohsen, at the Pyramids in Giza.

Molly (foreground), the Sphinx (middle ground), & Great Pyramid (background).

Checking out the massive statue of Ramses in Cairo.

We stayed at the Marriott in Cairo. It's one of the best hotels we've stayed in - mostly for its character. Here's Molly in the grand ballroom.

Malak, our driver, on the left and Mohsen on the right. Hiring these guys in Cairo was the best decision: the traffic is HORENDOUS, we saw and learned much more, and they were great.
